Herewith a first impression report on the production F3 A units.

The A cabbed road locomotive units are supplied as a pair, or perhaps more properly described as an A unit plus C unit. Both of these have cabs with full interior, one motor to each bogie (hence 8 drive axles and 4 motors between the two units), directional mars light and interior lighting, cab end powered coupler and exhaust smoke unit. The A unit gets the DCS control electronics and sound with the C unit slaved via a connecting cable that is hidden by the sprung articulated diaphragms. The B unit is a dummy but has jumper connectors so that the A can reach through to the C. Construction, function and finish are up to MTH's usual high standards.
